Arival day: Part 3: The drive

Brandon grabbed the jug of milk and took a quick chug. Grabbing a yogurt cup and a box of cereal from on top of the fridge Brandon walked to the door and yelled, "See you in September mom!"
"You aren't going anywhere yet." His mom said walking in from the computer room. "Do you have everything?"
"Yes mom" Brandon said aggravated "I got everything."
"Soap, tooth brush and tooth paste, shoes, socks, laundry soap, towel, bathing suit, vitamins, extra money, ID, glasses, sunglasses, ipod, PFD, wetsuit, dress clothes, sunscreen, sun hat, rash cream."
"Mom you know i got rid of that rash when i was eleven, I'm almost twenty."
"Fine don't blame me when you're lying in bed in pain." She said as if she didn't care, "Do you have a notebook, pens, markers, waterwings, coat, rain shell, facepaint, deodorant, your lifeguard shirt, your cell phone, a charger, a camera, extra film, a tent, a water proof sleeve for a cast?"
"What? I don't even have a cast!"
"You might in the future. Sleeping bag, pillow."
"OH NO!!!" Brandon quickly ran to his room and grabbed his pillow and then ran down stairs and got a black sleeping bag his dad had used when he had climbed mount Blackcomb. "Ok i'm ready."
"Brandon you know that sleeping bag is for twenty below zero weather right?"
"Fine i'll get a new one." walking down to the basement he throwing the black sleeping bag on the floor and grabbed a light blue sleeping bag. "Ok i'm going now." Brandon said reaching the top of the stairs.
"Ok drive safely."
"Mom when have i ever not been a good driver?"
"Well you did get almost get into an accident the other day."
"Mom i was at a stop-light and the accident happened in the intersection. It didn't even happen to me."
"Still drive safe." His mom gave him a quick hug then shoved him towards the door.
"Mom are you crying?" Brandon walked to his car, holding his yogurt, cereal, and sleeping bag. quickly turning around to the door, Brandon grabbed his sleeping bag.
"Have a good time." She stepped outside onto the drive way. Tossing his stuff into the passenger seat, Brandon started the car. "See you at staff break." pulling the car back Brandon waved a goodbye as he drove away the raft catching the wind but staying on the top.
After four hours of driving, two bathroom breaks, three cans of Coke, an energy drink, and a gas station hotdog, Brandon began the drive around blind man's lake. Suddenly in front of him appeared a black pick up truck. After four minutes of driving only 20km/hr faster than the speed limit, Brandon gunned his little four cylinder Honda to pass the pick up. As he passed the pick up he glared at the driver, "What an idiot" Brandon said as he drove on along the lake side then took the turn off up the hill leading to camp Owtaluk. Looking in his review mirror he saw the black pick up also turning up the road. The only two things up the hill were a ranch and camp Owtaluk. Hoping the truck would turn the other direction, Brandon turned onto the gravel road with a large hand painted sign: Camp Owtaluk this way --->
But the truck didn't turn the other direction, it kept following Brandon all the way down the road. "Well hopefully he's cool."
Parking his car, Brandon got out and slipped on his lifeguard tee-shirt. Sitting on his bumper he watched as the black truck pulled up, and the tall driver got out and grabbed a single duffel bag and walked to the camp office.
to be continued...
